European destinations continued to be popular summer holiday destinations for UK travellers, according to new figures from the UK Civil Aviation Authority . Between July and September, more than 13 million passengers traveled to Spain, representing 86% of the pre-pandemic total. Greece and Italy were also popular destinations, with 4.6 million and 4.1 million passengers traveling to the country in July, August and September respectively. Greece surpassed its 2019 performance (114% of 2019), while Italy recorded 83% of tourist visits compared to pre-pandemic levels. Newly released UK CAA figures also show that more than 73 million passengers flew in and out of the UK between July and September this year, a 19% drop compared to before the COVID-19 pandemic.Passenger volumes in July and August were both at 81% of 2019 and September at 83%, suggesting that consumer confidence in air travel continues to grow.
